Glad that they got their act together

I have been waiting to read this book. I have been dying to read more about Sherlyn and Thomas Darkwater to see where the relationship would go. At times I wanted to shake the both of them and scream what is wrong with you two. They both reacted to each other negatively due to not listening to each other and assuming what the other one was thinking. But I was glad that they got their act together. There were two obsticales that where thrown in Shane Reddorn and Janine, Sherlyin's best friend. This has been a great series to read. I am hoping that Shane and Janine get their own story even through Shane was not interested in her, I feel she can change his mind.

I loved this book because it wasn't what you expected alot of times and I thought they would never get together but the message was clear and that is you need to communicate if you want the person to be with you. You have to SAY IT! Never assume and there was alot of assumptions on both sides. It wasn't your normal romance book. It had the problems that you would have in your relationship especially dealing with a stubborn, controlling person that is scared to give in and be vulnerable.

Jacob, a seafood exporter and Mrs. Elizabeth Jacob, who was a lecturer in Zoology at St. Teresa’s College, Cochin, at that time. He passed MBBS from Medical College, Kottayam, Kerala, India in 1990, and later M.S (General Surgery) from the same college in 1996. He then started his career as a surgeon in a busy Department of Surgical Gastroenterology, which functioned in three major hospitals in the private sector in Cochin. Ten years later, at 39, just as he was beginning to realize his passion as a surgeon, he su� ered a massive stroke that paralyzed the left side, wreaking his surgical career in the process. This ‘bolt from the blue’, necessitated change of vocation from that of a surgeon to that of an Intensivist in the Surgical ICU, where he works as Senior Specialist. Having lost the sense of direction in life, at least momentarily, he took to writing. He found a new avenue to express himself, through the unfamiliar world of letters, exchanging his scalpel for the pen, in the process. His new-found passion had him contribute in various sections of the national daily, The New Indian Express.

No question Dr. George Jacob did struggle trying to figure out just who he was supposed to be for the rest of his life, but this book will surprise you. It is full of good humor, the fun and games of children, and a delightful glimpse into his upbringing and life in far southwest India, plus the amazing support he has had from his family, friends and professional colleagues. You see him and his siblings singing along with Nashville’s “Gentleman Jim” Reeves on recordings his father brought home to Kerala from the United States. It is also a very honest story of how different the world of medicine can look from his experience climbing out of the hole the stroke put him in.
Dr. Jacob is new to writing, so don’t expect a smooth, poetic read, although I did not find any of his quirks with the English language to be particularly distracting. It is a wonderful story of the ups and downs of true healing, straight from the heart.

Scott Fitzgerald, Marguerite Duras, Samuel Beckett and others. It also contains short, witty prose passages which explore hats as expressions of identity, fashion statements or disguises. Journalist Dana Wickware, for example, writes about how his father's black homburg became inextricably tied with memories of his stepmother and a college football game. Other contributors to this collage include New York Times reporter Richard Bernstein, novelist Susan Shreve, New Yorker staffer Mary Kierstead and Michael Malone, whose books include Time's Witness . Smith's 75 tritone photos have a rich, atmospheric quality. But then again so does the subject. As hat designer Patricia Underwood notes here, "one cannot be neutral in the presence of a hat."

This attractive, artsy book comes with a grosgrain hat trim book mark. Its black and white photographs, poems, hat ditties from literature and essays treat the hat as an object of art. For example: "Then wear the gold hat, if that will move her: If you can bounce high, bounce for her too, "Till she cry Lover, gold-hatted, high bouncing lover, I must have you" F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby.

The Beauty of the Hat

This is a remarkable little book. This is a beautiful little book. I suppose it is out of print because hat-loving is such a niche market. But hat lovers everywhere would love this book. The hat is such an expression of style and dignity, and this book captures it in a totally charming way. Wow, what a book.

Fabulous collection from a wonderful photographer

I've been enchanted by Rodney Smith's photography for some time. If you have been, too, this book is a must have for your collation. Featuring his ubiquitous hats, Rodney's signature style is front and center in this wonderful volume. The paper is slightly textured and feels good to the touch...a great match for a book that is as much about the sometimes quirky textures of fashion as it is about hats.
