Not useful for me

This book is entirely research articles and graphs from those articles. I was looking for something for everyday reference to assist me in teaching a renal diet. This is NOT that kind of book. That is why people are not keeping them after their course and are instead selling them for only $6. They just want to get rid of it becuase it is not helpful.

Great Reference

This book was a suggested to me from a expert Speech Path. She had the 2nd edition version and found it to be a great resource that she used almost daily in her practice. I purchased this edition and I LOVE it!! I have used it quite a few times as a reference for my neurology class and as a source in papers. This book is very easy to understand and use for students. I wouldn't recommend this book to be used a "main" textbook in class - there it isn't quite as in depth but it does help to explain things in an easier way.

For those going into the field of speech therapy, this text makes for an easy-to-understand read with its labeled diagrams, key terms, outlines, and chapter summaries. I would suggest this textbook to any person going into the field of speech-language pathology, who is required to take a neurology / neuroanatomy course.

Manual therapists NEED to read this book

This is essential knowledge to keep our biomechanical explanations from spreading fear and perpetuating pain in our patients. The interventions laid out here have turned some of my most difficult cases (due to high sensitivity and pain avoidant habits) into successes.

It's an excellent introduction to modern pain science -- written for someone educated, but not necessarily fluent in neuroscience. It presents the concepts fully and restricts itself to just those that are clinically relevant, so you don't feel like you're wading through a whole neuro textbook just to find a few insights.

As a physiotherapist I would recommend this book. Nonetheless, several chapters are basically a reproduction of the research out there and therefore adds nothing new, I had the impression that I was re-reading material. The authors do strive to provide interesting tools for TNE. The last thing I'd say is, I've got the impression that TNE was oversold in this book. Current research criticises big time the overall effects of TNE, it does prove to be of use in clinical practice, but not as the book sells.
Despite the criticism, I most certainly recommend it.

I sure hope this book becomes a standard text for all PT/OT programs! I've noticed for some time that my anatomy focused patient education didn't always work the way I intended it to. I had read some articles here and there about TNE, so I started to talk to my patients about the brain and chronic pain. I still wasn't feeling good about the effectiveness of my patient education- UNTIL this book. This is a really well written informative book that teaches how to teach this stuff to your patients. If you are a PT or OT reading these reviews, buy this book!!

There is no better Sanitation and Safety Course for Food Service

Very beneficial. This is a required course for food service managers in Alabama. It is easy to read and understand with sample questions and answers in each chapter. This is a course recognized in all fifty states so If I move, I will already have the course. My employer supplied me with a book but I bought this because I wanted my own copy to mark and highlight.

Gr 9 Up—This quirky solo work from Caldecott- and Printz-winning graphic novelist Tamaki collects strips from her long-running webcomic about a school for mutants and witches into one mostly cohesive anthology. Riffing off popular phenomena, such as Harry Potter and the X-Men, this title sets teen angst-y situations in a world populated with cat-eared prom queens, the Everlasting Boy, and superpowered jocks. Most of the strips are a page-long, with the exception of the never-before-seen 40-page story arc that concludes the series. While at times these snippets may confuse readers because of their brevity and often weighty existential themes, these snapshots often center on the same cast of characters, each of whom teens get to know more deeply by the book's end. The mostly black-and-white art is divided in a range of single, full-page to six panels, and rare bursts of color are deftly used to moving effect. Marsha, the misanthropic witch with a crush on her female best friend; Frances, the boundary-pushing artist; and Cheddar, the athlete trying to find the meaning of life, among others, stand out as the more fully developed protagonists, but readers will find bits of themselves in many of the realistic characters. Poking fun at the "Chosen One" mythos, Tamaki has created a stellar graphic novel that combines her slice-of-life expertise and clean, uncluttered art style. About the Author

Jillian Tamaki is a Canadian illustrator and cartoonist living in Brooklyn, New York. Her illustrations have won gold medals from the Society of Illustrators and the Society of Publication Designers. Tamaki is the co-creator of the graphic novel Skim, which was listed as a New York Times Best Illustrated Book of 2008 and was nominated for four Eisner Awards and a Governor General's Literary Award. This One Summer, her second co-authored work with Mariko Tamaki, was published in mid-2014 and spent more than a month on the New York Times bestseller list. Her two books of personal work are Gilded Lilies and Indoor Voice.

One of The Best Comics of the year

Excellent and fun "graphic novel" collection of the awesome web/tumblr comic strip. A wonderful glimpse into a magical yet wholly familiar world.
Loosely, yet expertly crafted lines, and fluid storytelling. Perfect one page at a time, or in longer sittings, often hilarious, with healthy doses of poignancy and ennui.
If you enjoy Hark a Vagrant, or Harry Potter, or Adventure Time, or just excellent things in general, get this ASAP for your eyeballs.

Haven't splurged on graphic novels in like a decade. Review on NPR drew my attention and immediately it went to my wish list. Then I gifted it to myself for surviving my son's fourth grade year at school. Worth it. Poignant observations of life.

Deadpan, angsty, and socially aware “Suptermutant Magic Academy” is a collection of hundreds of smaller stories about a group of otherworldly teens. It has all the nihilism of “Pearls Before Swine” and the whimsy of “Calvin and Hobbes,” but with swear words clearly written out and a wavering fog of gloom.

Readers hoping for spell after spell will be disappointed. “Academy” takes place in a magical high school. But the characters are just like any other set of young adults: pining, whining, resigning.

Most of the stories take up no more than a single page. They’re sketches of the lives of Marsha, Wendy, Cheddar, Frances, Everlasting Boy, and their classmates. Every couple of panels ends in a slick punchline, before switching over to an entirely different train of thought. Marsha & Co. struggle with the idea that they need to cherish the present day they will eventually be nostalgic for. But like any other set of adolescents, they won’t realize it until after the book ends.

The illustrations are clean-cut, the jokes at once sharp and tender. SMA feels like eating one slice of a very intriguing combination pizza and being unable to get seconds.
